BRIDGET MENEREZ...A BASIC NEED TO BE HEARD.

Comes Monday morning. As now, I never miss to get The Sun and read article by Bridget Menerez which I later posted in my blog. Her articles are about daily lives and it is a reminder to us all on how to lead quality lives. This is her article for monday..

" How well do you listen? Do you let others finish speaking before you begin to talk? Give people who are talking to you your attention, without judging them or giving them advice. Make eye contact. Listen in order to understand. Allow more time for people who reply in few words. Dont rush them. Ask questions when appropriate.

Some people speak so much that I don’t even have a chance to put in a word. They control the whole situation. Listen to others the way you would like them to listen to you. Disagreements between people arise because of misunderstandings or control.

We all need a basic need to be heard and understand. Build a closer understanding and harmonise your relationships. When someone is telling me something, I need to listen to the other person rather than merely hearing his words. When I am able to understand the intentions behind the words, I am able to take something from them instead of just creating conflicts in relationships.
The power to listen will bring inner peace. We have 2 ears and one mouth. This means we have to listen twice more than we speak. We must cultivate compassionate listening attitudes.
People want to be heard. By listening, we learn and show regard to the other person. We understand their intentions and know how to respond to the situation. Listening to other is an act of charity. Enquiring after their welfare earns us goodwill and good wishes. This indirectly will help us play our role in a way that will earn us applause. "
